LNGSHOT EP ‘SHOT CALLERS’ REVIEW

Korean-American R&B singer Jay Park says K-pop has lost some of its “romantic spirit” and “authenticity,” and his answer is LNGSHOT, a four-member boy band that made its debut Tuesday (January 13) with the release of its first mini-album, SHOT CALLERS.

Introduced under Park’s label, More Vision, LNGSHOT consists of Ohyul, Ryul, Woojin and Louis. The group’s name refers to a “long shot,” a decisive play with slim odds that can flip the game entirely. When Park introduced his boys during his performance at 2025 MMA, LNGSHOT is “putting the K-pop industry on notice.”

The band’s debut album, SHOT CALLERS, is mainly built on hip-hop and R&B foundations, reflecting Park’s long-established musical tastes. The album includes five tracks: the lead single “Moonwalkin’” and the B-sides “Saucin’,” “Backseat,” “FaceTime” and “Never Let Go.” Let’s dive into their new released project.

Backseat

“Backseat” sets the tone with a smooth 808 line and old school hip-hop beat with clean, rhythmic flows you can’t help but nod your head to. Just know that they’re never taking the backseat when it comes to their dreams and success.

Saucin’

LNGSHOT keeps the momentum going with their pre-debut single “Saucin.’” The head banger was written by all four members with full of confidence and swagger. The music video also reflects playful rebellion against the K-pop industry standards. You let them tell it: Sauce be in my blood!

Moonwalkin’

The next track “Moonwalkin’” elevates the album. The song expresses the emotions of youth, blending dreams and self-belief through the metaphor of moonwalking. From the hard-hitting rhymes and mad ad-libs to the sleek use of auto-tune, “Moonwalkin’” is the most cohesive and polished sound of LNGSHOT.

FaceTime

We slow it down with a smooth R&B track “FaceTime.” The boys’ harmonies stand out and will be a killer for their female fans when performed live.

Never Let Go

The EP ends with emo core track “Never Let Go.” The boys brought on the passion and yearning on this alternative song, making listeners want more of LNGSHOT once the song ends.

It is not surprising that Jay Park’s boy group is hungry for success in their K-pop journey given Park’s experiences in the business. Just like the title of the EP, LNGSHOT are calling the shots in whatever they do from here on out. LNGSHOT over-delivered with this EP with such charisma and ambition you can’t help wanting more. It is only the beginning of the year but LNGSHOT could easily be one of the contenders for the rookie of the year.
