New Music Friday – Feb 27th

Welcome back to New Music Friday, where we curate a playlist of new releases that happened during the week. Several artists released albums after several years (10 years for a major pop star). There are a couple of fun and surprising, not so surprising collaborations to listen to. Here’s a list of singles/albums that released this week.

Blackpink DEADLINE

After a couple years of individual activities, YG Entertainment’s influential girl group Blackpink has come together to release their third EP DEADLINE. The mini album includes “JUMP,” Blackpink’s comeback single, released in July last year and title track “GO.”

T.I. escalates beef with 50 Cent.

RAYE “Nightingale Lane”

RAYE’s “Nightingale Lane” is the latest cut from her second studio album THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE, which is due March 27.

Mitski Nothing’s About to Happen to Me

Mitski returns with her eighth studio collection Nothing’s About to Happen to Me, the follow-up to 2023’s The Land is Inhospitable and So Are We.

IVE “BLACKHOLE”

After three years IVE released their second album REVIVE+ February 23. The 12-track album includes double title tracks “BLACKHOLE” and “BANG BANG,” along with B-sides “Hush,” “Stuck In Your Head,” “Fireworks,” and “HOT COFFEE.” It also compiles solo songs revealed during the group’s latest world tour — Jang’s “8,” Gaeul’s “Odd,” Leeseo’s “Super ICY,” Liz’s “Unreal,” Rei’s “In Your Heart” and An’s “Force.”

Lauv songs i couldn’t forget

Songs from songs i couldn’t forget featured songs Lauv written years ago. He states, “Back in 2018, I wrote these songs during a time that shaped me in ways I’m still understanding. Years later, I still can’t get them out of my head, so I put them together into an EP called songs i couldn’t forget.”

Kim Sung Kyu “Over It”
